The Charleston Regional Business Journal partnered with local business professionals to feed 160 firefighters in North Charleston this morning.

When the coronavirus pandemic hit South Carolina, SC Biz News went from hosting bimonthly, in-person Power Breakfast networking events to holding online streaming events. The Business Journal sold tickets for $15 with the promise that the money would be used to help support first responders with a hearty breakfast to get their day started.

Today, the Business Journal worked with Crazy Dutchman Catering in North Charleston to fulfill that promise by delivering boxes of food to fire stations across North Charleston with the help of the department’s leadership.

SC Biz News CEO and Group Publisher Grady Johnson said the Business Journal works best when it connects businesses to each other and to the community.

“We’re so focused on running our businesses and making sure everyone has information they need to be successful, but we don’t want to forget to stop and give back to the community,” Johnson said. “At this moment, it’s critically important to remember that local businesses are partners with individuals who step up when something happens. We’re thrilled to be able to be that community connector.”
