Commercial laundry company Holy City Linen is opening a second location in the region and has plans to add 254 new jobs, the S.C. Commerce Department said in a news release.

The $12.4 million expansion will open a second facility on Remount Road in North Charleston. The company was founded in Mount Pleasant in 2016 to provide commercial laundry service across the metro area.

The company said the second operation will allow Holy City Linen to meet growing demand in the health care sector.

“This expansion will allow Holy City Linen to further its mission in providing a hygienically clean product and quality commercial laundry service in an eco-friendly manner,” owner Ann Son said in a statement.

Steve Dykes, executive director of Charleston County Economic Development, said he welcomed the 254 jobs to the county.

“Our Business Concierge team is willing to roll up their sleeves and work tirelessly to help our companies, especially during periods of economic uncertainty,” Dykes said in a news release.

North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey said the Holy City Linen news gave him confidence that North Charleston remains a strong place for businesses to come and grow.

“We applaud the company’s success and are thankful for the capital investment and job creation, which will greatly benefit our community,” Summey said in the news release.

The company expects the expansion to be completed and operational this summer.
