3C to host small business roundtable on Tuesday

The Connected Commerce Council will host Charleston-area small businesses Tuesday for a roundtable discussion with state and federal policymakers.

The goal of the nonprofit organization, which is also known as 3C, is to promote small businesses’ access to digital technologies and tools, plus provide coaching to help companies with growth and efficiency.

3C President Jake Ward will lead a discussion about what it takes to start and run a business, the importance of using the right tools and resources, and how public policy can affect small businesses.

Tuesday’s roundtable is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Community, a gift shop in the Cigar Factory in downtown Charleston. Registration is available online.  

Chris Grimm, a spokesman for 3C, said the free event is the first roundtable to be hosted by the organization in Charleston. It has hosted several roundtable discussions around the country, including in Ohio and Florida.

“Our sort of goal is to have a place for small businesses to come together and talk about how they’re using digital tools and platforms,” Grimm said.

He said he thinks it is also important for elected officials and policymakers to know how significant those tools are.

Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration are scheduled to attend the event. Grimm said 3C has invited representatives from U.S. Senate offices and House members that represent Charleston but has not received confirmation of attendance.

Representatives from the S.C. Small Business Development Centers will also attend, Grimm said.
