The Boyd Group Inc., which operates in the U.S. under the name Gerber Collision & Glass, has acquired 16 John Harris Body Shops throughout South Carolina and Georgia as of June 30, Boyd Group said in a news release.

John Harris Body Shops have been in business since 1975, starting with operations in Columbia.

The acquired South Carolina shops are located in Bluffton, Charleston, Greenville, Greer, Irmo, Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, Summerville, Sumter and two in Columbia and two in Lexington. The Georgia locations are in Augusta, Evans and Grovetown.

Kevin Burnett, COO of Gerber Collision & Glass, said he is excited to expand the company’s footprint across South Carolina and Georgia.

“We welcome these teams which have extensive collision repair experience, and we look forward to working with them to provide high-quality repairs and outstanding customer service,” he said in the news release. “The acquisition of these repair centers will introduce our brand and leading service model to new customers and further assist our insurance clients.”

The Boyd Group Inc. runs non-franchised collision repair centers in North America. The company operates as Boyd Autobody & Glass and Assured Automotive in Canada. Boyd also serves as a major retail auto glass dealer in the U.S. with operations under the trade names Gerber Collision & Glass, Glass America, Auto Glass Service, Auto Glass Authority and Autoglassonly.com.
