Boeing fires employee who hung noose in manufacturer’s facility

Boeing S.C. has fired an employee who hung a noose in one of the manufacturer’s production facilities in North Charleston.

“We do not tolerate actions that undermine our core values,” said Brad Zaback, vice president and general manager of the 787 program for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, in a statement.

The noose was discovered in February. Zaback said then that he was “saddened and angered that a racially charged symbol was discovered on site.”

Boeing performed an internal investigation following the incident, resulting in the employee’s termination.

“Diversity and inclusion are core to Boeing’s enduring values, and there is absolutely no place for racism and these cowardly acts in society and especially in our company,” Zaback said in a statement.
