National chicken chain to open Moncks Corner spot with more locations on the way

Fast-casual restaurant chain Slim Chickens is set to open its newest South Carolina store at 451 N U.S. Hwy 52 in Moncks Corner on Dec. 11.

Larry Chandler and his nephew Jody Chandler are embarking on a new adventure and opening their first Slim Chickens, according to a news release. They were both born and raised in the eastern part of South Carolina. Together, they have more than 50 years of combined restaurant experience.

They recently decided to expand their portfolio with Slim Chickens after experiencing the experience firsthand, which is exactly what they strive for at their restaurants, the release stated.

Larry Chandler has a humble respect for local business owners in Moncks Corner, but he believes Slim Chickens will easily stand out in the restaurant scene and is very excited to bring the concept to the local area, the release stated.

“Slim Chickens is all new to the coast of South Carolina, and people are really going to fall inlove with it,” said Larry Chandler in the release. “We have different offerings than our competitors, like chicken and waffles, 17 different sauces, and crafted desserts. We’re different, and that’s what the community is going to find.”

The new Slim Chickens location in Moncks Corner will also make a positive economic impact with over 75 new jobs anticipated for creation in the community, the release stated.

Since its founding in 2003, the brand has opened over 200 locations in 33 U.S. states, as well as international locations in the United Kingdom, with an overall goal of opening 600 restaurants by 2025.

In South Carolina, Slim Chickens has grown to three locations with this opening, and Chandlers have three more restaurants on the way in Florence, Myrtle Beach, and Conway.
