CHARLESTON, S.C. – CRANSTON, stepping up its growth strategy in the Charleston region, has promoted Megan Smith, P.E., to manager of its civil engineering practice for the Charleston market region.

Previously, Smith served as a civil engineering project manager at CRANSTON, where she also just celebrated her 2nd work anniversary.

CRANSTON has been leveraging its diverse civil and structural engineering, landscape architecture, planning, and surveying expertise since 1967 on behalf of communities throughout South Carolina, Georgia, and beyond. In addition to Charleston, the firm has offices in Hilton Head, S.C., Aiken, S.C., and Augusta, Ga.

“The Charleston region has incredible growth potential for CRANSTON and our broad spectrum of infrastructure design services,” said Mitchell Murchison, a principal of CRANSTON and director of civil engineering for the firm. “Megan is well-positioned as an active member of Charleston’s design community to drive future opportunities in this market.”

CRANSTON’s coastal growth strategy also includes Charleston-based Matt Randall, P.E., who will focus his attention as civil engineering manager for the Hilton Head market region on growing that established market and pushing into coastal Georgia markets.

Together, Smith and Randall will work to build on CRANSTON’s previous successes as a coastal team and collaborate to ensure future growth for the coastal region, Murchison said.

“We have great confidence in what Megan and Matt, leading our coastal team. will be able to accomplish with our focused growth strategy targeting the Charleston, Hilton Head, and coastal Georgia areas, Murchison said. “We look forward to even greater opportunities down the road, brought to us by their market experience, as we empower every community in the heart of the Southeast to thrive.”
