Kids On Point receives $50,000 grant from Power:Ed to help serve more North Charleston students

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC — Kids On Point (KOP), a nonprofit that works year-round with students in under-resourced Charleston neighborhoods to foster life-and career-readiness skills, has been awarded a $50,000 grant from Power:Ed, a philanthropy of SC Student Loan Corporation.

This is the second time Power:Ed funds will be used to support sustaining and scaling the program launched last year at Allegro Charter School of Music in North Charleston.

The support and investment from Power:Ed will enable us to extend our services to a greater number of students and families within our community.”

“The board of SC Student Loan strongly believes in Kids On Point and the transformative impact their programs have on the lives and future career opportunities for the students they serve,” said Power:Ed Director Claire Gibbons. “We look forward to helping them reach more students and families in North Charleston.”

In FY2023-24 Power:Ed will award $1,000,000 in grants to South Carolina education and career readiness nonprofit organizations. In this second quarter, Power:Ed has awarded eight grants (including this grant to KOP totaling $287,000. Grants are administered quarterly, and the next grant funding deadlines are January 1 and April 1, 2024.
