G. Holmes Bell, IV, PE, CEO & Chairman of Hussey Gay Bell is pleased to announce Mr. William “Bret” Godwin, PE, LEED GA as the Department Head for the firm’s Charleston Civil Department. Bret joined the firm in 2022 as a civil department supervisor responsible for managing and overseeing design efforts for the firm’s civil projects in industrial, commercial, residential, education, healthcare, public safety, transportation and water and wastewater domains. Projects of note include a +/- 385 unit residential development in Santee, South Carolina, a +/- 770 unit residential development in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, a +/- 700,000 SF Industrial Building Development on +/- 82 Acres in Berkeley County, South Carolina and a new Fire and EMS Station in Charleston County, South Carolina.

“Bret’s experience in the region and beyond, on a variety of projects, allows Hussey Gay Bell to maintain the diversity, knowledge, and experience on any type of development project in our area. Bret obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Old Dominion University and is a Registered Professional Engineer in South Carolina. He is a retired Naval Officer with over 21 years of active-duty service.
