The Charleston FRIENDS of the Library (CFOL) is heating things up this summer by hosting two events with proceeds benefiting Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) programming starting with a Summer Reading Celebration at The Garden by Charles Towne Fermentory on July 30 followed by a Back to School Book Sale the first weekend in August at the Bees Ferry West Ashley branch.

The Summer Reading Celebration is a culmination of CCPL’s Summer Reading Program that promotes reading and offers incentives throughout the summer, along with featured events for all ages at their library branches. On Sunday, July 30 from 10:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at The Garden by Charles Towne Fermentory located at 1331 Ashley River Road. Bring the kids and grab a cold beverage for this fun celebration. $1 from every pint sold will be donated back to CFOL. Local author and illustrator Tim Banks and CCPL’s mascot Owlbert will be on site. Featuring music by DJ Slowcountry and food will be available to purchase from NXSE Oysters and Johnny Focaccia Pizza Truck. We’ll also have well loved and gently used beach reads and kid’s books for sale. For more information go here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1568480666890538.

“We love our community and being able to support great causes like this is what we are all about,” exclaimed Adam Goodwin, Founder/Headbrewer, Charles Towne Fermentory.

The FRIENDS of the Library Back to School Sale is presented by Crews Subaru and open to the public Friday, August 4 – Saturday, August 5 at the Bees Ferry West Ashley branch located at 3035 Sanders Road. At this sale, Children’s, Young Adult, Non-Fiction, Fiction, Cookbooks, and more can be found for a steal.

“We want to be part of your back to school planning and want to help you prepare with a great collection of gently used books of many genres. The Charleston community has always supported our sales and we are so pleased that your purchases allow us to provide continued programming support to the CCPL. We hope to see you there,” said Gail Golightly, CFOL Acting Director.
