Summerville, S.C. – EcoSteris, a new SCDHEC permitted biomedical waste treatment facility, will host a VIP reception to celebrate the opening of its state-of-the-art site located in Summerville, S.C., on May 17, 2023 with a grand opening tour and VIP reception. The gathering will allow guests to tour the building and take a closer look at the EcoSteris operation.

Located at 112 Fabricators St., Summerville, S.C., EcoSteris finished the construction of the first-of-its-kind 13,000 sq ft facility in January 2023 featuring a fully automated operation from start to finish. The EcoSteris business model will carry out a sustainable approach in the treatment and disposal process in addition to the way they operate on a day-to-day basis. “We’ll run a lean and efficient operation with a small staff, allowing us to be more aggressive and competitive when it comes to pricing,” according to Youmna Squalli, CEO.

The founders of EcoSteris, Youmna and David Squalli have over two decades of experience in the biomedical waste industry. After servicing MUSC hospital via an onsite treatment operation for over seven years, in early 2022 they moved from an onsite treatment business model to an offsite treatment facility. Today, the centralized facility will allow EcoSteris to service large waste generators, like hospitals, as well as small waste generators like doctor offices, dental clinics, and more. “With over a $6 million investment, EcoSteris is committed to be a responsible business that aims to make a positive impact on the lives of people, communities, and the environment as we continue to tackle the on growing medical waste disposal challenges,” noted David Squalli, COO.
