“Billy Graham of South Korea” & the Korean Children’s Choir

January 16,2019

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Charleston Southern University, Lightsey Chapel

Details

Charleston Southern University will host Dr. Billy (Jang Hwan) Kim and the Korean Childrens Choir Wednesday, Jan. 16 in Lightsey Chapel at 11 a.m. and at the Charleston Korean United Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m.

Kim, a world-renowned evangelist and broadcaster, is often referred to as the Billy Graham of South Korea. He is pastor emeritus of Suwon Central Baptist Church and is chairman of the Far East Broadcasting Company-Korea. After completing his education in the United States, Kim returned to South Korea. He served as an interpreter for Billy Grahams crusade in Seoul, Korea, in 1973. Kim was pastor of Suwon Central Baptist Church for 45 years.

The Childrens Choir was organized as a ministry of the Far East Broadcasting Company, and their performances include colorful costumes and traditional Korean dance. Choir members, ranging in age from 7 to 13, are selected through a rigorous audition process and receive training in voice and choreography.

In 1956, the radio ministry began to broadcast the gospel message to North Korea, China, Russia and Mongolia where missionaries themselves could not go. Today, FEBC-Korea broadcasts on two high-powered AM transmitters proclaiming the Gospel in Korean, Chinese, English, Japanese and Russian.

FEBC-Korea offers concerts free from fees or honorariums. All love offerings support the ministry of FEBC-Korea.
