A custom bicycle brand is opening a second location in North Charleston’s Park Circle neighborhood.

Bilda Bike, which was born from the vision of two college students at the College of Charleston, will be located across from Holy City Brewing and CodFather Fish and Chips.

The expansion signifies a journey of growth and success as Bilda Bike celebrates 15 years in business and the sale of its 25,000th bicycle, according to a news release.

Founded in a rental property at 88 Morris St. in downtown Charleston, Bilda Bike first sold 100 bicycles to fellow students during the back-to-school season shortly after graduating college in 2009. Within a year, Bilda Bike opened a 600-square-foot store at the corner of St. Philip and Spring streets (where The Pass sandwich shop is now located), igniting a journey of growth and expansion, the release stated. It quickly outgrew that location and moved to 677 King St., gaining more awareness through visibility.

“We are thrilled to bring Bilda Bike to Park Circle and to celebrate 15 years of serving the Charleston community,” said Danny Einhorn, founder of Bilda Bike, in the release. “We are immensely grateful to our loyal customers whose support has propelled us to 15 years in business and 25,000 bicycles sold.”

One of the main differences with Bilda Bike is that its frames are uniquely designed from scratch in Charleston, the release stated. When customers come in, Bilda Bike will identify which bike is ideal for the customers riding preferences and then the customization begins. Bilda Bike assembles custom bikes like a pit-crew on the spot while the customer waits and gets them riding the same day.

The new Park Circle store will feature a comprehensive service department catering to repairs on all brands of bicycles, along with a large and diverse rental bike fleet.

The grand opening of the Park Circle store is scheduled for May.
