ACG – the premier midmarket mergers and acquisitions association – will celebrate its newest business chapter at the ACG Charleston Chapter Launch Event at 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, at the Charleston Visitor Center, 375 Meeting Street in Charleston.

During the event, a business panel will formally introduce ACG Charleston to the deal community and talk about ACG and the benefits of becoming a member. The panel is also expected to discuss business topics, including credit markets.

The ACG Charleston chapter is designed to help local business professionals in the middle market network with each other to gain insight into the local business community, foster growth within companies and to establish regional and national contacts in the middle market.

“ACG is thrilled to welcome our newest chapter as Charleston becomes a regional focal point for the dealmaking community,” said ACG CEO Brent Baxter. “I’ve no doubt that ACG Charleston will thrive as a chapter where local middle market professionals network, source deals and develop their careers.”

ACG Charleston grew out of the Charleston Deal Alliance that formed in 2020 through the Charleston Regional Development Alliance, said Charleston-based CTH Advisors CEO Andy Brusman, a member of ACG Charleston advisory board and chairman of the former CDA that recently became ACG Charleston.

As Charleston has grown over the last decade, it’s attracted middle market deal professionals from all over the country, Brusman said.

Also, the COVID pandemic accelerated people moving to smaller cities since they could work remotely, which caused more middle market dealmakers to flock to Charleston due to its temperate weather, historic architecture and standard of living, Brusman said.

So, the time was right to merge CDA into ACG Charleston since the deal community has grown so quickly, he said.

“A lot of people involved in the deal community are now living here and that has increased significantly since COVID,” Brusman said. “What’s changed is people realized as investment bankers, you don’t have to be in New York. It was the recognition that you aren’t viewed differently if you are in Charleston, a destination market where people want to live.”

The launch event costs $30 for members and $60 for nonmembers.
