Dolly and David Jaffee have joined Shelter Mortgage LLC of Charleston as managers of the Carolina Builder Division. Dolly Jaffee has 34 years of experience in finance and residential mortgage lending, and David Jaffee has 35 years of experience in real estate and mortgage lending.

 

Kimberly Racine has joined Ameris Bank as a business banker in the Mount Pleasant office. Prior to joining Ameris Bank, Racine worked with First Reliance Bank. Joli Donnelly has joined as branch manager in Mount Pleasant. Donnelly previously worked with First Reliance Bank.

 

Southcoast Community Bank of Mount Pleasant has announced the following promotions: Jerry Beach, regional business development officer; Andreana Valicenti, assistant vice president; Carl Rowe, vice president; Carrie Pearson assistant vice president; Craig Johnson, assistant vice president; Darold Charpia, assistant vice president; Jeff Odom, assistant vice president; Vicky Sipple, senior vice president; Erica Fuzz, assistant vice president in the accounts payable department of the Mount Pleasant branch. Charles Smits was promoted to assistant office manager of the Dorchester Road office. Jimmy Hyams was promoted to assistant vice president of the Sam Rittenberg location and Ray Williams has been promoted to assistant manager of the Goose Creek office.

 

George Smythe has joined the mortgage lending division of First Federal in downtown Charleston. Smythe has 17 years of experience in the mortgage banking field and 10 years as a commercial banker.

 

Jarrard, Nowell & Russell LLC has promoted Derrick Apple to staff accountant. Apple previously served as an intern with the firm.

 

First Command financial adviser Liza Cluney has joined the company’s Mount Pleasant location. Cluney previously worked in First Command’s North Charleston office.

 

Benjamin Simpson has joined Wachovia Insurance Services as an employee benefits account associate in the Charleston office. Simpson previously worked in Wachovia’s banking division. He is a licensed insurance agent in the state of South Carolina. Robert Servatius has joined the company as an employee benefits specialist. Previously, he was an investment specialist for Bank of America Investment Services.

 

Shelia Smith has joined Wachovia Insurance Services Inc. as an employee benefits account executive in the Charleston office. A licensed insurance agent and a member of the Lowcountry Health Underwriters Association, Smith has 12 years of experience in the employee benefits industry.

 

Sandy Beckett has joined Elaine Brabham and Associates Real Estate in West Ashley as an agent. Beckett has 24 years of prior experience in management, finance and automotive sales.

 

Places real estate of Mount Pleasant has added Leigh Rowe to its sales team. Rowe has prior experience in real estate investments.

 

David Wertan has purchased the Mount Pleasant RE/MAX office and renamed it RE/MAX Advanced Realty. Located at 311 Johnnie Dodds Blvd., the office will feature free fax service for clients and free Wi-Fi among other services. Wertan has worked in real estate since 1983.

 

Mike Goldston has joined the sales team of RE/MAX Advanced Realty in Mount Pleasant. Goldston focuses on residential sales in the greater Charleston area, and has six years of experience in real estate, most recently as an agent and prior to that as a mortgage lender.

 

Karen Fine has joined The Art Institute of Charleston as director of administrative and financial services. Fine comes to Charleston from The Art Institute of Dallas where she held the same title. Lucy Lamb has been appointed as director of human resources and previously served in the same capacity at The Art Institute of Indianapolis. 

 

Gary Jolly has joined Webster University’s Charleston Metropolitan Campus as the School of Business and Technology coordinator. Jolly has 20 years of experience in the educational field and has been an adjunct faculty member since 1999.

 

Andrew L. Abrams has been named dean of the Charleston School of Law by its board of directors. Prior to joining the School of Law in 2005, Abrams served as provost, senior vice president for strategic planning and administration and tenured professor of legal studies at the College of Charleston. He most recently served as interim dean at the School of Law.

 

Trident Medical Center of Charleston has promoted Scott Bates to director of medical-surgical services. Bates was previously employed by the hospital as a charge nurse and clinical coordinator.  

 

Debora Glenn has joined Carolina Center for Occupational Health of North Charleston as a family nurse practitioner. With more than 20 years of experience, Glenn is a certified advanced practice registered nurse and a certified wound care specialist. 

 

Palmetto Behavioral Health has promoted Ione Sack to clinical program director and named Dr. Lydia Ward Haren as associate medical director of addictions services. Prior to joining Palmetto Behavioral Health, Sack served as supervisor for Managed Treatment Services. Haren previously served as a private practice psychiatrist in Chattanooga, Tenn.

 

Hans Hoebeek, Richard Lyon and Roger McGee have joined the staff of Somerby of Mount Pleasant, a senior living service. Hoebeek, director of plant operations, was previously division manager for Lennar Carolinas. Director of business services, Lyon was previously general manager for HB Services. McGee, director of resident services, is a 24-year veteran of the U.S. Navy. He most recently was active chief petty officer and hospital corpsman. 

 

Kristen Weisenberger has joined health care solutions provider Think First as senior project executive. Weisenberger previously served as senior projects manager at University Medical Associates in Charleston.

 

Jill Badger has joined The Charleston Breast Center as CEO. Badger has more than two decades of senior health care leadership experience and was previously the administrator of women’s health at the Cleveland Clinic.

 

Jim Knapp has joined Arcadia Publishing of Mount Pleasant as vice president of sales and marketing. Knapp has 20 years of experience in the publishing industry and previously served as senior vice president of sales and marketing for Creative Homeowner, a home and garden publisher. 

 

Riley Croft has joined Kennickell Print & Global Marketing as a Charleston marketing consultant. Previously he was a partner in consulting firm CBT Inc. on Folly Road.

 

Brian Graham has joined Zafari Inc. as lead Web developer for the firm. Previously, Graham worked at Charleston magazine where he was the lead developer for five publications. Sara Davis has been promoted to junior account executive. She previously served as the firm’s marketing assistant.
