Pounce Cat Cafe and Wine Bar, the Charleston cafe that allows patrons to hang out with and adopt felines, is planning an expansion to Savannah this fall.
“It’s been doing so well in Charleston that we just think it would do really, really well in Savannah,” Ashley Brooks, co-owner of Pounce, said. “Not to mention that we love Savannah and it’s Charleston’s sister city, so we thought, ‘Why not?’”
Brooks said the plan is to open the Savannah location in October or November and hire approximately seven people. The only difference between the locations, she said, will be that the Savannah location will serve liquor, with a “really fun cocktail menu that’ll serve ‘meowgaritas,’ ‘whisker sours,’ things like that.”
Brooks said that she’s not sure how much it will cost to get the Savannah location off the ground, because she and her co-owner, Annaliese Hughes, are still looking at locations, but that it took about $35,000 to get the Charleston location up and running.
She added that there’s no investor for the expansion — the duo are funding it all themselves.
