If the number of out-of-state tags on our local roadways is any indication, tourism season has started. When schools get out, the real onslaught of tourists — and dollars — will descend on the Lowcountry.

That’s backed up by the nearly 30 million tourists who came to South Carolina over the past 12 months* and the more than 47 million visits to the state’s 46 counties, according to data from the S.C. Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
