The transaction is expected to close today. ATI and its 165 employees will remain in Summerville following the acquisition.
Analytic Services, known as Anser, is a not-for-profit public service research institute that helps government decision-makers address complex problems related to national security, according to its website.
ATI, also organized as a not-for-profit, was launched by SCRA in 1998. It manages research and development collaborations for the government involving medical technologies, shipbuilding, metal parts manufacturing, composite applications, the electromagnetic spectrum and Department of Defense agencies, a news release said.
SCRA will receive approximately $25 million from the sales agreement, and the agency could receive up to an additional $15 million over the next four years based on the growth of ATI’s support to Anser’s federal sponsors, the release said.
“The parallel missions of ATI and Anser to provide solutions to the U.S. government make the acquisition a natural fit for both companies,” SCRA Executive Director Bob Quinn said in the release. “This sale will keep a homegrown company in South Carolina and give SCRA the opportunity to advance our mission to create high-paying jobs by enhancing the innovation economy.”
